Apple Oat Cookies (No Refined Sugar)
These apple oat cookies are so easy to make, using just one bowl and a few simple baking staples. They’re made without any refined white sugar, relying instead on the natural sweetness of apples, raisins, and a touch of maple syrup. Soft, wholesome, and full of flavor, they’re a great snack or healthier treat for little ones of all ages.
Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 cup rolled oats (old fashioned) 110gr
- 1 ½ cups whole-wheat flour (160gr)
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 egg
- ½ cup unsweetened applesauce
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 small apple diced or grated
- ¼ cup raisins (45gr)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the dry ingredients: oats, whole wheat flour, baking powder, cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Add the wet ingredients: egg, applesauce, melted butter and maple syrup. Mix with a spatula until you have a lightly sticky dough.
- Peel and grate or dice the apple. Add it to the bowl along with the raisins. Gently mix to combine.
- On a lined baking tray, place scoops of the dough. The recipe makes 12 medium cookies. Press gently with a spatula to flatten the cookies.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes in a preheated oven to 350℉ / 180℃.

Notes
- You could use ground cloves instead of nutmeg.
- For little ones under 12 months, I recommend grating the apples to avoid any chunky apple bits.
- Consume within 2 days and store in an airtight container.
