These sugar-free apple oat cookies are soft, naturally sweet, and full of warm, comforting spices. They make a delicious snack for little ones and are perfect for popping into a lunchbox.

Apples, oats, and raisins are three ingredients that pair beautifully in baked goods. Their natural sweetness makes it easy to create a healthier treat for little ones without relying on refined white sugar.
These apple oat cookies are also flavored with warm spices, adding a cozy aroma and making them truly irresistible. Best of all, you'll only need one bowl to prepare the dough, and the kids can join in by helping add the ingredients and scoop the dough onto the baking tray.

🥘 Ingredients
To make these sugar-free apple oat cookies, we are going to use old-fashioned oats, whole-wheat flour, egg, unsalted butter, applesauce, baking powder, apple, cinnamon, nutmeg, maple syrup and raisins.
- Oats: I’m using old fashioned oats but you could also use quick oats.
- Applesauce: You could use store-bought unsweetened applesauce or you could make your own homemade applesauce.
- Spices: I like to use a little bit of cinnamon and nutmeg that goes well with the apple but feel free to leave them out if like the apple oat cookies more plain.
- Raisins: A handful of raisins is added for texture, sweetness and flavor.

🔪 Step-by-step Instructions
So get your ingredients ready and let's get started!
01. I start with mixing the dry ingredients in a bowl. I add the whole wheat flour, oats, baking powder and spices, and mix everything together before adding the wet ingredients.
02. Next I add the wet ingredients: melted butter (at room temperature), apple sauce, egg and maple syrup.

03. With a spatula, I mix the ingredients together until I have a thick but sticky dough.
04. I’m using one small apple, peeled and diced. If you prefer a smoother texture, you can grate the apple instead.

05. I add the diced apple and raisins to the bowl and gently incorporate it with the spatula.
06. Using a ¼ measuring cup, I scoop the dough onto a lined baking tray. Then I gently flatten each cookie with a spatula or the palm of my hand.

🍽 Serving Suggestions
Babies under 12 months: For little ones under 12 months, I recommend grating the apple instead of dicing it to avoid any larger pieces that may stay firm after baking. These apple oat cookies turn out soft, making them easy for little hands to hold and little mouths to chew.
Older kids and adults: You can serve them as a little dessert after a meal, enjoy them as a snack with a glass of milk, or pack one into a lunchbox for a treat.
🧰 Storage
Store any leftover oat and apple cookies in an airtight container and consume within 2 days. You could also freeze them for up to 2 months.

❓ FAQ
Yes, you can leave out the maple syrup if you prefer a less sweet cookie. If you’re not a fan of the flavor of maple syrup, you can substitute it with honey instead.
