Healthy Chocolate Puff Pastry Twists

These chocolate puff pastry twists are great for children and adults and so easy to make. Ready in less than 30 minutes, all you need to do is combine the ingredients for the chocolate spread, then twist the puff pastry and let the oven do all the hard work. Enjoy a couple for breakfast or as an afternoon snack.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup almond butter
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 4 tablespoons cacao powder
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 2 sheets puff pastry
  • 1 egg

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, add the almond butter, maple syrup, cacao powder and milk.
  • Mix everything well until creamy.
  • Lay flat one of the puff pastry sheets. Cover with the chocolate spread, leaving 0.5in from the edges.
  • Cover with the other puff pastry sheet.
  • Cut it in half lengthwise. Then cut into strips about 0.5".

  • Twist the puff pastry strips and place them on a lined baking tray.
  • Beat the egg with a tablespoon of water or milk. Brush the chocolate twists.
  • Bake for 20 minutes in a preheated oven to 350℉ / 180℃.
