A quick and easy chocolate cake that comes together in under 30 minutes. Made without any added sugar and naturally gluten-free, it’s soft, moist, and just sweet enough for the whole family to enjoy as a little treat.

You'll only need one bowl and six simple ingredients to make this chocolate cake. It's naturally gluten-free and contains no refined sugar, with ripe bananas providing all the sweetness, making it a healthier option for little ones than a traditional chocolate cake.
The texture is soft, moist, and fluffy, as it doesn't have any flour in it. You can sprinkle some chocolate chips on top for an extra chocolatey touch or serve it with fresh berries for even more flavor.

👩🏻🍳 Why you should try my recipe
- Sugar-free & gluten-free, for littles ones with allergies or following a specific diet.
- Ready in 30 minutes.
- Made with just 6 ingredients.
- No food processor required, just one bowl to mix the ingredients.
🥘 Ingredients
To make this chocolate square cake, we are going to use almond butter, cacao powder, bananas, baking powder, eggs and chocolate chips. You could also add a teaspoon of vanilla for aroma if you like.
- Almond butter: I like to use almond butter because it has a mild flavor that doesn’t overpower the cake. You can also use peanut butter or any other nut butter you prefer.
- Bananas: Bananas act as a natural sweetener while also adding moisture to the cake. I like to use ripe bananas because they’re sweeter and much easier to mash.
- Chocolate chips: These are optional, but highly recommended! They add extra texture and a rich chocolatey burst in every bite.

🔪 Step-by-step Instructions
So get your ingredients ready and let's get started!
01. All you need is a bowl to mix everything together. I start by mashing the ripe bananas. You can use either a fork or a masher, whichever you find easier.
02. Next I add the eggs and almond butter. I mix everything using a whisk.

03. Finally, I add the cacao powder and baking powder and mix to combine. The batter should be thick.
04. I’m using a 2-quart square Pyrex baking dish for this sugar-free chocolate cake. It doesn’t bake up very tall, it's more like the thickness of a brownie. Just before it goes into the oven, I sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top.

🍽 Serving Suggestions
I like to cut the chocolate cake into squares and serve each piece with some strawberries or other berries to enhance the flavor.
For older kids and adults, you can also serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
🧰 Storage
If you have any leftovers of my sugar-free chocolate cake, you could store it in an airtight container in the fridge and enjoy within 3–4 days.
You could reheat it in the microwave for a few seconds to enjoy it warm, or leave it at room temperature for 10 minutes before serving it.

❓ FAQ
Yes, you can add some chopped strawberries or other berries. They may add a little extra moisture to the batter, so I would keep it to a couple of tablespoons of chopped fruit.
