When the weather starts to warm up, popsicles become my kids’ favorite treat, and honestly, who can blame them? They’re fruity, refreshing, and perfect for cooling down after a day of playing outside.

These orange and mango popsicles are made with just a few simple ingredients. To make them extra special, I like to add an easy homemade strawberry syrup at the end, which creates a beautiful sunrise effect and adds an extra burst of fruity flavor.

👩🏻‍🍳 Why you should try my recipe

  • Great for the whole family to enjoy.
  • Stay good in the freezer for up to 3 months.
  • Perfect on a hot day.
  • Made without white refined sugar.

🥘 Ingredients

To make these kid-friendly sunrise popsicles, we are going to use frozen mango, orange juice, maple syrup and frozen strawberries.

  • Mango: I’m using frozen mango that I usually have in my freezer ready to use for smoothies or popsicles. You could also use fresh mango.
  • Maple syrup: I'm using a little bit when blending the mango and orange and some for the strawberry syrup.
  • Strawberries: You could use fresh or frozen strawberries.

🔪 Step-by-step Instructions

So get your ingredients ready and let's get started!

01. In a food processor, I add the frozen mango cubes, orange juice and maple syrup. I blend everything well until i have a thick purée.

02. I pour the blended fruit mixture into the popsicle molds, leaving about a finger's space at the top for the strawberry syrup. Then I place the molds in the freezer, without the sticks, for about an hour while I prepare the strawberry syrup.

Step1: Blended mango and orange. Step2: Mixture added to popsicle molds.

03. In a small pot, I add the strawberries, cut in half, along with a tablespoon of maple syrup. I cook them over medium heat for about 4–5 minutes, until they soften and release their juices.

04. I place the cooked strawberries in a sieve and press them with the back of a spoon or a spatula.

05. Once all the juices have passed through into the bowl, I scrape the underside of the sieve to collect any remaining syrup, then let the strawberry syrup cool down.

06. After about an hour, the mango and orange popsicles will have started to freeze but won’t be fully set yet. I add a little strawberry syrup to each mold, then gently swirl it through with a wooden stick or toothpick to create that beautiful sunrise effect.

Then I add the popsicle sticks and place back in the freezer to fully set for at least 2-3 hours.

🍽  Serving Suggestions

We love enjoying these mango and orange popsicles on a hot day when we need something refreshing to cool down. They’re also perfect for BBQs, kids’ parties, and playdates. A fun, fruity treat that the whole family can enjoy.

🧰 Storage

Homemade popsicles can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months. They’ll still be safe to eat after that, but the flavor and texture may not be at their best.

❓ FAQ

Can I skip the maple syrup?

Yes, you could leave out the maple syrup when mixing the mango and orange juice. The popsicles will be less sweet but still taste good from the blended fruits.
