Whip up these quick and easy chocolate oat pancakes for a delicious treat or a family-friendly breakfast! Top with fresh berries or a drizzle of honey or maple syrup for older kids and adults to enjoy.

Pancakes are one of those versatile foods that kids love not only for breakfast but also as a sweet treat. These chocolate oat pancakes are perfect for both—serve them in the morning or as a dessert with a drizzle of honey, some fresh berries, or even a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
They’re simple to make and have a soft yet slightly denser texture than traditional pancakes, thanks to the use of oats instead of all-purpose flour.

🥘 Ingredients
To make these sugar-free chocolate oat pancakes, we are going to use oats, baking powder, cacao powder, eggs, milk, butter, dates and vanilla extract.
- Oats: I'm using 2 cups of old-fashioned oats that I blend to make them into a flour texture.
- Dates: Instead of white sugar, I'm using dates to sweeten up the pancakes.
- Milk: You could use whole milk, low fat or a dairy-free alternative of your choice.

🔪 Step-by-step Instructions
So get your ingredients ready and let's get started!
01. In a bowl, I add the pitted dates cut in half and a third cup of hot water. I leave the dates to soak in the hot water and get soft for about 10–15 minutes. This is going to help with blending.
02. While the dates soak, I add the oats to a food processor and blend them until they resemble oat flour. I'm using old-fashioned or rolled oats.

04. I empty the content of the blender to a bowl and add the eggs and milk. I mix everything together.

05. Next, it's time to add the dry ingredients. I add the oat flour, cacao powder and baking powder into the bowl.
06. Using a spatula or a whisk, I gently combine everything together until I have a lightly thick batter.

07. Next, I place the pan over medium heat and brush some oil on the surface. I add about a third cup of the batter to the center of the pan.
08. When I start seeing bubbles, I carefully flip the chocolate oat pancake to cook on the other side. It takes about a couple of minutes on each side.
