These strawberry puffs are quick to make and perfect for snacking, enjoying with yogurt and fruit for breakfast, or packing to go. Enjoy!

Strawberry puffs served on bamboo plate with raspberries and blueberries.

What we love about these strawberry puffs is their crunchy, fruity flavor. My toddler enjoys them plain as a snack, but also with yogurt and fresh berries. They’re crumbly, easy to bite, and you could get the kids involved into shaping them to get it done faster.

If you give love strawberries and you are looking for more snack ideas with strawberries and other berries, take a look at my strawberry muffins or my raspberry and banana muffins.

👩🏻‍🍳 Why you should try my recipe

  • Easy to prepare and you can get the kids involved.
  • Suitable for toddlers and kids of all ages.
  • Ready in under 30 minutes.
  • Great for breakfast and snacking.

🥘 Ingredients

To make these homemade strawberry puffs, we are going to need dried strawberries, oat flour, nut butter, maple syrup and coconut oil.

  • Strawberries: I’m using dried strawberries for their intense berry flavor and lower water content, which helps give the puffs a nice crunch.
  • Oat flour: You could either use store-bought oat flour or use a food processor and blend rolled oats until you have that coarse flour texture.
  • Nut Butter: I like using almond butter because its mild nutty flavor doesn’t overpower the strawberries, but you can also use peanut butter or any other nut butter you prefer.
  • Maple Syrup: Maple syrup works both as a sweetener and as a binder, giving the mixture a doughy texture that makes shaping the puffs easier. You can also use honey, but NOT for babies under 12 months.

🔪 Step-by-step Instructions

So get your ingredients ready and let's get started!

01. I start by adding the dried strawberries to a blender, then give it a few pulses until everything is well combined. If you are using quick oats instead of oat flour, then you could add both in the blender until you get a coarse flour texture.

02. Next, I add everything to a bowl. The oats, strawberries, maple syrup, nut butter and coconut oil. I like to use almond butter as it has a mild flavor but you could use whichever nut butter your family likes.

Step1: Blended dried strawberries into powder. Step2: All ingredients in a bowl.

03. I start mixing everything with a spatula until I get a doughy texture. Then I place it in the fridge for 10–15 minutes so it's easier to shape.

04. I take a small piece of the dough, about a golf size, and roll it into a rope about an inch thick.

Step3: Strawberry puffs dough ready to form. Step4: Dough rolled into a rope.

05. I cut the dough rope into half inch pieces and roll each one into a ball. I repeat until all the dough is shaped, and place the balls on a lined baking tray as I shape them.

06. This recipe usually makes about two trays. I bake them in a preheated oven at 325°F for 14–15 minutes. They may feel soft when they first come out, so let them rest for 5–10 minutes before serving them.

🍽 Serving suggestions

These homemade strawberry puffs are perfect with yogurt and fruit for breakfast, or enjoyed with milk. They also make a great snack on their own, just pack a few in a container and take them along to the playground.

🧰 Storage

If you have leftovers, store the strawberry puffs in an airtight container at room temperature. They’ll stay fresh and crunchy for up to 2 weeks.
