Creamy, chocolatey and easy-to-prepare chocolate avocado ice cream with just a few ingredients and no ice cream maker needed.

Avocado is a fantastic ingredient for making sauces creamier—it has a mild flavor and is packed with protein and nutrients. This time, I decided to use it to make a homemade chocolate ice cream instead of heavy cream, which typically needs to be whipped until fluffy.
This chocolate avocado ice cream takes less than 10 minutes to prepare, and all you need is a food processor to blend everything together. You can freeze it in an ice cream container and serve it in scoops, or pour it into individual molds for a fun twist.

- Made without processed sugar.
- Suitable for toddlers and kids of all ages.
- No ice cream maker needed.
🥘 Ingredients
To make this easy avocado chocolate ice cream, we are going to need an avocado, cacao powder, vanilla extract, honey or maple syrup, frozen bananas and milk.
- Bananas: I'm ripe frozen bananas.
- Honey: Instead of white sugar, I'm using honey or maple syrup to add some sweetness to the ice cream.
- Milk: You could use cow's milk or a non-dairy milk of your choice.

🔪 Step-by-step Instructions
So get your ingredients ready and let's get started!
01. In a food processor, I add the frozen bananas and the avocado after peeling it and removing the pit. It’s best to use bananas that are already sliced, but if they’re whole, that’s okay too—you’ll just need to blend a bit longer.
02. Then I add the cacao powder, honey, vanilla extract, and milk. If you're making this chocolate avocado ice cream for babies under 12 months, you can use maple syrup instead of honey, and reduce the amount for a less sweet version.

We love having this chocolate avocado ice cream as it is but also with some add-ons like
- Chocolate chips: After adding the ice cream in the container, add the chocolate chips and gently mix with a spoon or a spatula. Freeze and serve.
- Fruits: You could add any fruits of your choice like diced strawberries, cherries, raspberries.
- Chocolate: Freeze for 1–2 hours and then add some melted chocolate. Mix with a knife or a skewer and freeze again.
- Cookies: Crumble some plain cookies or biscuits and gently mix, then freeze until you have the ice cream texture.
🧰 Storage
I recommend keeping the chocolate avocado ice cream in the freezer and consume within 2–3 months.

❓ FAQ
Some extra things you could add to the ice cream for more flavor are chocolate chips, diced fruits like strawberries or cherries. You could also take the container out in 2 hours, whilst it's cold but not ice cream texture yet, add some melted chocolate and move it around with a knife or a wooden skewer. Then freeze it until you get an ice cream texture.
